Well, Jason and I are leaving to fly to Vietnam tomorrow morning around 2 am. Ugh. We won't get into Vietnam until about midnight tomorrow. Just so you all know, we are about a day ahead of you here in Palau. I guess we should have told you that when we first got here.
On our current itinerary, we have about a month in Madagascar. We were trying to get some medical missionary work there but have been having a horrible time getting in contact with anyone who can help us. Plus the island is really huge and the internal transportation is really causing issues. So now, we are considering finding another place. We have tossed around ideas of South Africa or Kenya. Does anybody have any suggestions? It has to be on the globe in between Thailand and about Italy. If anybody knows a good place or has suggestions for South Africa or Kenya, or other places, comment and let us know. We are trying to be open to anything. Except Iraq or something. :]
Hopefully we will talk to you again from Vietnam!

i have a friend whose family lives in kenya. they are pretty well off and even have houses on their estate for servants! they seem very friendly and they would probably love a visit from a nice little adventist couple. if you contacted them they would at least know people to put you in contact with for mission work and give you contacts at area churches. anyway e-mail me if you want me to get you contact info.
Our friend, Dr. Ralph Bailey, was in Kenya for 10 or 12 years, starting up the East Africa University in Kenya, or something like that. I am sure that he knows lots of contacts if you are interested, and would have lots of info about what and where to visit there. Just let me know via e-mail.
Oh, and you mentioned Thailand. When Shuree went to India in Dec. of 2004, they stopped in Bangkok, Thailand, because that is where Dr. Gardner (Lindsay's dad) grew up and he wanted to visit there again - he had fond memories of the place. Shuree found it to be her favorite place of all the trip. That is where she did most, if not all, or her shopping. Let me know if you want to get more info about that, also. Sorry your plans for Madagascar are not working out; but God knows best :)
Jason and Larissa - you know us South African's can always help. We have some contacts for you if you like - Eddie's brother is the medical director of a mission hospital in Lesotho - a small country in South Africa - where you could get alot of experience. I heard about a Website on the radio this morning and looked it up with regard to the devastating lack of food in some parts of Africa. It is www.theworld.org, which has a lot of interesting info on it about, you guessed it, The World. I sent a copy of some of the info about hunger, along with a map, to your hotmail e-mail address, Larissa, if you are going there these days. I will also get out the interesting Christmas letter I got from Midge - Dr. Gardner's mom - about her trip to Turkey and other places of interest last year. She is in her 80's!! She and her late husband were missionaries in the Middle East - I think you have read her books - "Midge in -----," etc.
G-Pa thought you might be interested in the beauty and history of Instanbul and environs. I will let you know what she said. Love and hugs to both of you!!
